Children’s Moment for World Communion Sunday – 06-Oct-24
06-Oct-24
Today is what we call World Communion Sunday. Do you know what that means? What is World Communion Sunday? [wait for answers]
World Communion Sundays is when we celebrate that people all over the world will be coming to tables and celebrating communion. Now, just like all those people don't look just like us and don't speak this language, the tables all over the world and even what is on them will look very different from ours. But, what we celebrate, that God sent Jesus to us and that he gave us communion in order to remember Jesus, is the same all over the world.
We also remember that our denomination doesn't own our Christian faith. It is a gift from God to people all over the world. Likewise, we don't own communion. It is a gift to be shared with people all over the world. And you know what? We also don't own God or God's love. That too is something we should share with everyone.
Let's pray about that.
Prayer
God, we thank you for sending us Jesus to help us to know you and to love you. We thank you for the communion, that reminds us of your love and forgiveness. Help us to remember that you gave this gift to be shared with the world; with everyone. Help us to share you love in all the ways we can, with everyone we can.
We pray in Jesus' name. AMEN
