1-Jan-23 (Matthew 25:31-40)
In today's gospel reading, Jesus tells the story of people who are welcomed into the realm of God and some who are not. The salient question God asks those people is, "What have you done for the least of these?" As we come to this table, we remember a God who loved every one of us enough to send Jesus so that we could know the depths of God's love, even, especially for the least of us.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God who loves us all, every one of us, we thank you for this table and for these symbols that remind us of how much you were willing to give, even life itself, so that we would know that you love us.
As we take this bread and cup, let us remember Jesus, who showed that love to us and let us recommit ourselves to sharing your love with the world, especially the least.
In the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
