Offering Meditation for Proper B4 – 2-Jun-24
2-Jun-24 (Mark 2:23-3:6)
When Jesus disciples went through the field and picked a few heads of grain to eat, they were doing something which the people of Israel in Jesus' time not only allowed but planned for. It was part of the directions that God had given to Israel about how they should treat the stranger and traveler. They planned on having some extra grain in the field for those who were hungry.
In the same way, we in the Church plan in advance to provide for people who are in need, whether that be food, shelter, or other types of assistance.
As we come to our time of offering, let's consider how we can give of our time, our capabilities, and our financial resources to help those in need.
Prayer:
God, who has been so gracious to us and provided so much to us, help us to plan for providing for the needs of others. Give us spirits that embrace this as part of sharing your love with our world.
Help us to be as unfailing and unstoppable as you are in caring for each other, others, and our world.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Christ, AMEN.
