Offering Meditation for Proper 18B – 8-Sep-24
8-Sep-24 (Mark 7:24-30)
Sometimes we forget that the Good News of God's love for each and every one of us is for everyone, people right here in this community of faith, people is this city and nation, and people all over the world. When Jesus met the Syrian-Phoenician woman, he was reminded of how far God's love should reach.
We have opportunities to give of our time, our efforts, and our financial resources to get the word out, not just in words, but also by showing people what God's love looks like in deeds of kindness that bring hope and peace.
Let's consider how we can be a part of that great work as we take up our offering for today.
Prayer:
Please join me now in prayer.
God who reaches out beyond the borders of our own prejudices and preconceptions, beyond the physical borders of our world, we pray that you will bless these gifts that we return to you so that they will be used in words and deed to share your love with the world.
Bless us as well, that we would be your ambassadors, sharing of ourselves and our resources so that people can live and thrive and know you.
We pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN.
