Offering Meditation for World Communion Sunday 6-Oct-24
6-Oct-24
One of the special aspects of World Communion Sunday is that people all over the world are coming together at the table of Christ to remember Jesus and what he taught us in word and deed.
We are connected. We are connected to people in all times and places. All of us are beloved children of God and each of us is of infinite value.
One of the ways we show that we remember that is by working to meet the needs of others, whether they're here in this congregation, in our cities, or elsewhere in the world. We work to bring shelter and help in times of need and support and caring in times of pain and suffering. We work to help people learn about the love of God that we know through Jesus Christ.
Our offering is one way that we support that work. As we take up our offering for today, consider how you can give to support the work of the Church in the world.
Prayer:
Please join me now in prayer.
God whose love reaches out to the ends of the earth, remind us of your love for us and show us how we can be a part of sharing that love with others.
Bless these gifts which we return to you so that your work in the world can be done.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Christ, Amen.
