Table Meditation and Prayer for Pentecost-a – 28-May-23
28-May-23 (Acts 2:1-21)
It's interesting how many great things start with just a little. From twelve confused and scared apostles came, in the day of Pentecost, over 3000 believers. From small tongues of fire came understanding and belief.
Here at the Table, we celebrate the community of faith that began that day and, even now, is bound together through such small things as a piece of bread and a sip of juice. Yet Jesus promised that, to those who believe, those small things would become a spring of Living Water flowing from us.
So, eat and drink. Remember the one who is our Host, and prepare yourself for great things to come, perhaps even through you.
Prayer:
God of us all, We thank you for these small symbols, which call to mind your Son's life of total obedience to you, even to his death. We pray that you will bless us through them to become people of great faith and, because of that, your world will be blessed through our actions.
In Jesus name, AMEN.
