We invite you to join us for our Palm Sunday worship, with the message given for our DisciplesNet listeners by New Testament scholar and professor, Ronald J. Allen, who is also an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  Ron Allen is the Nettie Sweeney and Hugh Miller Professor of Preaching and New Testament at Christian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis, Indiana, www.cts.edu, and author of over 30 scholarly books.

Allen sheds light on the traditional Palm Sunday scripture, Mark 11:1-11,   sharing some cultural insight as to what they Jewish crowd may have seen and felt as they welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem with leafy branches and shouts of "Hosanna!"

DisciplesNet Church is blessed to receive the gifts of veteran pastors, retired pastors, as well as those who are just answering a call to ministry. Today we have the privilege of hearing from Andrew Moore, one who has recently stepped out in faith and his answering his call to service of God. In fact, this is the title of the sermon he brings to us today, "Who Are You Called to Serve?  Accompanying Moore's inspiring message is prayer that includes a special remembrance for the people of Japan on the one-year anniversary of the terrible earthquake and tsunami that struck a year ago. DisciplesNet Worship # 73, “Not As they Seem” (Raley 03 04 2012)

Today's message offers a special sermon today, brought by Katherine Raley, seminarian at University of Chicago Divinity School who is set to graduate in later this Spring. Minister Raley offers special insight into Paul's writings in 1 Corinthians 1:18-25 which tell us that "For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."  Today's message, "Things are not always as they seem," leaves us with a special wisdom in dealing the things of this world.
