Children’s Moment for Advent A1 – 27-Nov-22
27-Nov-22 (Matthew 24:36-44)
Have you ever had to wait for something? [Wait for answers] Maybe it was a birthday that seemed like it took forever to come. Maybe it was something special, a present. How did it make you feel to have to wait?
Jesus talks about waiting in the story from the Gospel today. He says that many people are waiting to see God come and make everything right and good. He says that no one knows when that will happen, so we have to keep watching and waiting, just like you did when you were waiting for that special day or special thing. And, just like you, people can get tired of waiting.
Jesus says it will be a big surprise for a lot of folks and warns his disciples to keep on looking and be ready when he comes.
Let's pray about that.
God, sometimes it's hard to keep waiting for you to come and set things right. Help us to be ready when it does happen. In the meantime, help is to know that you are with us right now, loving us, and helping us. Help us also to share that love with other people around us and help make the world a better place right now.
We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
