Children’s Moment for Advent 3C – 12-Dec-21
12-Dec-21 (Luke 3:7-18)
In today's gospel story, John the Baptizer is talking to a lot of people about how to prepare for the Lord's coming. Some of them ask him, "What should we do?"
He says, "Share what you have with people who don't have it." He says, "Don't force people to give you things. Don't lie, especially to accuse other people of things they didn't do."
Basically, he was saying, "Treat other people well. Show them God's love through what you do."
And, if John were here right now, telling us what we need to do in order to prepare for Christmas and celebrating Jesus coming, I expect he'd say exactly the same thing.
We need to share with others. We need to tell the truth. We need to share God's love with them in what we do.
Let's pray about that.
Prayer
God, we thank you for sending us people like John to teach us what we need to do and how we should treat others. We thank you for sending us Jesus to, who taught us how much you love us by loving us too. Help us to do what John tells us to do. Help us to share your love by loving other people.
We pray in Jesus' name. AMEN
