Children’s Moment for Christmas Day – 25-Dec-22
25-Dec-22 (John 1:1-14)
What are words for? What do they do? Why do we use words? [Wait for answers]
Words let us talk to each other so that we can understand each other better. Imagine trying to tell someone something important to you without using words. That would be hard, wouldn't it?
So, when God wanted us to understand who God is, when God wanted to tell us what was important to God, when God wanted us to see how much God loves us, God sent Jesus to us to tell us.
Jesus acted like God's words would, to tell us important things about God. Now Jesus did say a lot of things to help us understand, but Jesus also showed us God's love in the things Jesus did.
Now here is a very important thing: Jesus acted like God's words and told us who God is and we can do that too! If we tell people how much God loves them -- and not just with words but by what we do -- then we can be like God's words, telling others about God.
Let's pray about that.
God, we thank you for sending us Jesus to tell us about you and especially how much you love all of us. Help us to really hear that and be certain of that. Help us also to share your love, both by what we say and by what we do, with other people.
We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
