Children’s Moment for Christmas 2C – 2-Jan-22
2-Jan-22 (John 1:1-18)
Our gospel reading for today is from John. Now John writes in a way that can be difficult to understand. He talks about light and about being born from above and sometimes it can be hard to figure out what he means. But one thing we can understand from our scripture for today is that Jesus is a way to understand who God is. If we want to know what God is like, we can look at what Jesus was like. We can look at what Jesus did and said and it will help us understand how much God loves us. We can't see God, but we can see who Jesus is and what Jesus does.
Now here's a very important thing, so listen carefully:
God wants us to be like that for other people. What I mean is that God wants people to see what we're doing and be able to see what God is like because of what we're doing. When we help other people, when we're kind to each other, when we share what we have, especially with those who don't have as much, when we do what will help other people, even when they don't, all of those things help people to see God because of what we do.
Let's pray about that.
Prayer
God, we thank you for Jesus, who teaches us about you and your love for us all. We also thank you for all the people who can help us to know you better because of what they say and do.
Help us to share what we've learned about you and your love with other people too.
We pray in Jesus' name. AMEN
