Children’s Moment for Easter 3b – 14-April-24
14-Apr-24 (Luke 24:36b-48 and John 3:1-7)
We have two different stories from the gospels today, one from Luke and the other from John. Both of them are stories about the disciples meeting Jesus after he rose from the dead. John tells us that Jesus met his disciples on the shore of the Galilean Sea where they had gone back to fishing. He ate breakfast with them. Luke tells us about two other disciples who met Jesus on the road to Emmaus. They didn't even recognize who Jesus was until they set down to eat with him.
In both stories, Jesus was doing a very ordinary thing. He was sitting down to eat with his friends. Did you know that Jesus is with you in the ordinary things you do each day?
Jesus is with you when you get out of bed. Jesus is with you, just like he was with his disciples as you eat breakfast. Jesus is with you at school, on the playground, in your classroom.
Let's talk to God about that.
God, we thank you that Jesus is with us, wherever we go. Help us remember that Jesus is there when we're feeling a bit afraid, or when we're unsure of what to do. Help us remember that Jesus is there when we do well and when we don't do so well. Help us to remember that Jesus is there wherever we go and whatever we do.
We pray in Jesus' name.
AMEN.
