Children’s Moment for Easter 6b – 5-May-24
5-May-24 (John 15:9-17)
Jesus tells us, in our gospel reading for today, that we should "Love one another as Jesus has loved us." What do you think Jesus meant by that? [wait for answers]
We know that Jesus loves us because Jesus is with us all the time, when things are going well and when things are going badly. We know how much Jesus loves us because, even when we're not very nice, Jesus stays by us... and Jesus asks us to love each other in the same way. How do we do that? [wait for answers]
Every day, we'll have some chances to love others by being kind to them; by seeing what they need and helping them to get it; by sitting and listening to them when they're happy about something or sad about something else. We can show love to others by treating them with respect.
Let's talk to God about that.
God, we thank you that you give us Jesus to show us how much you love us. We thank you that Jesus is always with us, all the time. Help us to show Jesus' kind of love to others, even when it's hard to do that.
We pray in Jesus' name.
AMEN.
