Children’s Moment for Epiphany 3A – 22-Jan-23
22-Jan-23 (Matthew 4:12-23)
In our story from the Gospel today, Jesus says that the disciples will become people who fish for people. What do you think that means? [Wait for answers]
The thing about caching fish is that it's really not that good for the fish. After they're caught, they'll be eaten! Jesus isn't talking about anything like that. He is talking about gathering people up, but gathering them in order to share something good, something that will make their lives better. He's talking about going to where people are and sharing with them that God loves them and, when they see and understand that, they'll share it with others. It's more like the fish going and finding other fish to join their school.
Let's pray about that.
God, we thank you for sending Jesus to us to gather us in and teach us about who you are and especially that you love us so much. As we learn about that, help us go to other people and share that love with them, both in what we say and how we act toward them. Help us to invite them in to learn more about you. We pray in Jesus' name.
AMEN.
