Children’s Moment for Epiphany A4 – 29-Jan-23
29-Jan-23 (Matthew 6:1-12)
In today's story from the gospel, Jesus says a lot of things about the types of people who will be happy and think that God has blessed them. What are some thing that make you feel happy? [Wait for answers]
Well, Jesus says that people who are kind to others, even when they don't deserve it will have kindnesses done to them as well. He also says some people will be called God's own children. Would you like to be called one of God's children?
Then you need to work to help people get along and learn to live with each other. That sounds like a hard thing to do. Maybe as hard as getting along with people we don't really like. Right? How do you think we can help people to get along with each other? [Again wait for answers]
I'll have to say that I'm still figuring that out myself.
Why don't we ask God to help us with that?
God, we thank you that Jesus came to teach us the right way to live. Help us to learn how to understand what he said and to actually live that way when we do figure it out.
We pray especially that you will help us figure out how to help people get along with each other, especially when they disagree and get on each other's nerves. Help us to be peaceful and to help others to be peaceful.
We pray in Jesus' name.
AMEN.
