Children’s Moment (Gospel) for Epiphany B – 7-January-24
7-January-24 (Matthew 2:1-12)
The wisemen brought three gifts to Jesus. Gold, the metal of kings, incense, used by priests in When the wisemen came to visit Jesus, they brought some gifts. The Bible tells us that they gave gold, frankincense, and myrrh. What kind of gifts do you think you'd bring to a young child Jesus? [wait for answers]
What do you think Jesus would want most from us? [wait for answers]
God sent Jesus to us for one big reason: He wanted us to know how much God loves us and he wanted someone who would tell us that. One "gift" we can give to Jesus is to share that with other people. We can let them know how much God loves them. We can do that not just with words. Words are OK but showing them is much better. Let's show people how much God loves them by loving them ourselves.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God, who gave us the gift of know how much you love us by sending Jesus to us, remind us, when we meet other people, to share your love with them. Help us remember to act our your love by doing things to help them; things they need.
In the name of Jesus, our Christ, AMEN
