What happens when you learn something new? How do you act? What do you do? [wait for responses]
The story from the gospel today is about Jesus teaching and how people were amazed at what he said and how he spoke. It was something new and different for them. I'll let you in on a little secret: Some of us have spent most of our long lives reading what Jesus said and sometime we're still surprised by what he says... and that's OK. That just means we have to keep on reading and trying to understand.
Let's pray about that.

Prayer:

God, who loves us and teaches us how to love each other. Help us to remember to read your words and try to understand them. Help us to keep on learning more about you so we can become more like the people you want us to be; more like you.
