Children’s Moment for Epiphany C6 – 13-Feb-22
13-Feb-22 (Luke 6:17-26)
Today's story from the gospel is Jesus teaching his disciples about how God's way is different from ours. Jesus says that God is already working so that the poor, the hungry, the outcasts, and those who are hated because they are God's are the ones who are blessed. The rich, the well-fed, the well-liked will all face what the poor, hungry, outcasts face now.
It's not easy to figure out all that Jesus means by that, but one thing is pretty clear. When we recognize that God's ways are very, very different, we have to change the way we are. We have to remember that those who are poor and hungry are also ones that God loves and wants the best for. We have to realize that the ones people around us ignore, and overlook are also the ones God loves. In fact, we have to show those folks God's love through how we treat them.
Let's talk to God about that.
Prayer
God, we thank you for Jesus, who came to teach us how to live for you. Help us not to ignore people, even when everyone around us does. Help us not to treat people with money better than those who don't have it. Help us to help those who need food and shelter. Help us to show them your love for them in what we do for them and with them.
We pray in Jesus' name. AMEN
