Children’s Moment for Epiphany C7 – 20-Feb-22
20-Feb-22 (Luke 6:27-38)
Today's story from the gospel is Jesus teaching his disciples about a lot of different things. It's sort of like when your parents have to leave you alone for a bit and they leave a lot of instructions on how to behave. Jesus says, be kind to others, even when they aren't kind to you. (That's kind of like "Be nice to your brother or sister ... and yes, I mean even if they aren't nice to you.") Jesus also says, "Treat others the way you'd like them to treat you." "Forgive others." He even says, "Work to be better yourself before you try to help someone else to be better."
These are some hard things to do, aren't they? Being a Christian can be a lot of hard work sometimes.
Let's talk to God about that and ask for help.
Prayer
God, we thank you for Jesus, who came to teach us how to live for you. Help us to be the people you want us to be, even when it's hard. Help us to show your love to others even when they aren't very nice to us, even when it's hard.
We pray in Jesus' name. AMEN
