Children’s Moment for Lent 5a – 26-Mar-23
26-Mar-23 (John 11:1-45)
Does anyone here know who Lazarus was? He's actually pretty famous now because of what happened in our story for today, but this story is the only time he's ever mentioned and it's just in one gospel. So, you see, Lazarus wasn't a big deal. He wasn't famous. Most of the folks in Jesus day wouldn't have known him.
The story tells us that Jesus came after Lazarus had already died and so, Jesus raised him from the dead.
I'm not expecting any of you to raise people from the dead, but we can be like Jesus is one way. We can do good things for people who aren't the ones who are popular or rich. We can do good things for people who might otherwise have no one to be their friends.
Let's pray about that.
God, we thank you that Jesus is our friend. We thank you that Jesus sees everyone and cares for everyone. Help us to see the people that might otherwise not have a friend. Help us to do good things for people who might be forgotten.
We pray in Jesus' name.
AMEN.
