Children’s Moment for Pentecost C – 5-Jun-22
5-Jun-22 Pentecost
Have you ever wanted to do something you knew was the right thing to do, but were really afraid to do it?
The disciples were having a time like that. They knew now that Jesus would be with them, wherever they went, but they also remembered that he had been hurt and killed by some folks who didn't like what he was saying. They wanted to go out and share the Good News of God's love for all people, but they were afraid... and they had some good reasons to be afraid.
They were together in the upper room, probably praying for courage, when the Holy Spirit came. It looked like small flaming bits and it sounded like a rushing wind, but what it did was much more important: It filled their hearts with love for all of God's children and strengthened their courage so that they could go out and tell people about all they knew of God.
So, maybe we can ask God for courage to do those things we know we should do, including tell other people about Jesus.
Let's pray about that.
God, we thank you for Jesus, who came to show us your love. We thank you also for your Holy Spirit, that helps us share that love with other people.
When we're afraid, help us to know that you are right beside us. Help us have the courage to do what we know is right.
Amen.
