Children’s Moment for Proper B6 – 16-Jun-24
16-June-24 (Mark 4:26-34)
How much faith do you think you have? Do you have this much? [hold hands a little apart] Or do you have this much? [hold hands a little wider] Or do you have this much? [hold hands as wide as possible]
In our gospel story for today, Jesus tells us that it doesn't matter. What he says is that, if we have just an itsy-bitsy, tiny bit of faith, we'll be able to say to a mountain, "Get up and move over there." and it will!
Now don't go trying that, please. When mountains start moving around, a lot of people get very concerned. And to be sure, we really don't need mountains to be moved.
What Jesus was getting at is that there are some things in our lives that seem very big and hard to do. And just like those mountains, if we have even just a little faith, we can deal with them.
That's not because of our faith. It's because of what we have faith in. We believe in God and God can get quite a lot of things done.
So, the next time you see something that needs to be done, but it's big or you're worried that you might not be able to do it. Go talk to God about it. God will help you to get it done.
Let's talk to God about that.
God, we thank you that you gave us Jesus to teach us about believing in you. Help us to go to you when things seem too big or too hard.
We pray in Jesus' name.
AMEN.
