Children’s Moment for Proper B8 – 30-Jun-24
30-Jun-24 (Mark 5:21-43)
Have you ever really wanted God's help about something, but you didn't know even where to start? [wait for answers]
In our gospel story for today we'll meet two people who had exactly that problem. The first was a man whose daughter was sick to the point of being near death. The second was a woman who had been sick for nearly her whole life. Both wanted help from Jesus and both had to figure out what to do to get it. Let's talk about the woman for a bit.
She decided that all she really needed to do was to touch Jesus and that would be enough. She had to work her way through a crowd, but she finally was able to reach out and touch just the hem of his robe... and she was healed right then and there!
For us too, the first step to get help is to get close to Jesus. How do we do that? We can't just walk up to him like the woman did, but we can get close to Jesus by learning his stories, by praying, and by working hard to be more like Jesus.
Let's talk to God about that.
God, we thank you that you gave us Jesus to show us your love for us and to help us when we really need help. Help us to learn more about Jesus by reading his stories. Help us to be more like Jesus in the ways we treat other people. Help us to come to you when we need help.
We pray in Jesus' name.
AMEN.
