Children’s Moment for Proper C11 – 21-Jul-19
21-Jul-19 (Luke 10:38-42)
Today's story is about Jesus and two of his friends that were sisters. Mary was the one who always curious, trying to find out new things. So, when Jesus came by, she sat with him and listened and learned. The other sister was Martha. She did things. She made sure that all the things that needed to happen were done. When Jesus came to visit, she was the one that made sure there was food to eat and that the room was swept out before he got there.
In fact, Martha was working so hard to take care of everything, that Jesus and Mary were sitting by themselves. Jesus told her that, as important as the things she was doing were, Mary had made the better choice right then.
Like Mary and Martha, we all have things that we can do; things that we are good at; that we can do; that we should do for Jesus and for others.
We need to ask God to help us know what are the best things to do each day or we might choose something that sounds good; that would be good in another time; but it isn't what God wants us to do now.
Let's pray about that.
God, help us to try to do what is best. Help us remember to pray so you can tell us what are the best things for each day. And, even if we make a mistake, help us to remember that you'll always love us and will continue to teach us and give us another chance..
Amen.
