Children’s Moment for Proper B27 – 10-Nov-24
10-Nov-24 (Mark 12:28-34)
Have you ever asked a question, and someone responds with a really good answer, not just one that answers the question you asked, but helps you think about a lot of other things as well?
That's what happened in our gospel story for today. A teacher came to Jesus and asked, "Which of the things God has told us we should do is the most important?" Jesus said that the most important thing is to love God with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind and all your strength. Then he went on to say, there's a second thing that's also very important, "You should love your neighbor as you love yourself."
The teacher said, "Wow. That's a really good answer. You're right about that, nothing is more important than loving God and loving your neighbor is more important than anything else."
Jesus said, "You've got it. You're not far from God's ways at all."
So, what are some things we can do to love God and to love others? [wait for answers]
Wow. Those are some good answers.
Now let's talk to God about that.
Prayer
God, we thank you for sending Jesus to us to show us what's really important, what we really should be doing. Help us to love you with everything in us and help us to love others.
We pray in Jesus' name. AMEN
