Children’s Moment for Proper B28 – 17-Nov-24
17-Nov-24 (Mark 13:1-8)
Have you ever worried about what will happen tomorrow or in a week or in a year? Have you ever heard your parents worrying about what will happen soon?
Jesus and his disciples lived in a time when a lot of people worried about what would happen soon. They were sometimes really frightened and they found all sorts of things to trust so they wouldn't be afraid.
In our gospel story for today, the disciples pointed to the temple. It was a massive building, covering a whole city block. It stood above the surrounding buildings. It was carved from the best marble and parts were covered with gold so that it shined in the sunlight.
But Jesus told them that soon, this great building would lie in ruin and those who put their trust in it would be disappointed.
But after he warned them, he also said that, no matter what else fails, God's word will not fail. We can trust in God, no matter what else is happening.
Let's talk to God right now and let's talk to God about that.
Prayer
God, we thank you that we can trust in you, that you will last longer than any buildings, no matter how tall or well built and that your love will always be with us.
We thank you for sending us Jesus to show us how to put our trust in you. Help us to share your love with others and help them to trust you as well.
We pray in Jesus' name. AMEN
