Children’s Moment for Proper C9 – 3-Jul-22
3-Jul-22 (Luke 10:1-11)
Have you ever heard the word "ambassador"? Do you know what it means? Usually, an ambassador is a person who is chosen to represent a country while living in another country. When I say represent, I mean that, in many ways, the people of the country where the ambassador lives think of them as an example of how the people in the country the ambassador represents think and act. So, when people see, for instance, the ambassador of Ghana, in Africa, people will think, "That's how people in Ghana act." "That's how people in Ghana think."
When God wanted to show the world how God acted and thought, God sent Jesus to show us. And Jesus chose 72 people to represent him in the places he was about to go. People would see those disciples and say, "That's what Jesus is going to do."
It's still true today. People look at us, disciples of Jesus, and say, "If they act that way, it must mean that Jesus would act that way."
That means that we should act the way Jesus taught us to act. People will know God's love because they see us acting in love with them.
Let's pray about that.
God, we know that it's a lot of responsibility to represent you to other people. Help us to love them the way you love us. Help us to care about the things you care about. Help us to do the things that Jesus did. Help people to know you better because of what we do.
Amen.
