Children’s Moment for Transfiguration C – 27-Feb-22
20-Feb-22 (Luke 9:28-43)
In today's story from the gospel, Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up to the top of a mountain. While they are at the top, Jesus changes before their eyes. His clothes become bright white and a light shines from him. Suddenly Moses and Elijah appear with him. Then a cloud appears and a voice from the cloud says, "This is my beloved son. Listen to him!"
Now there's a lot of stuff going on there, but the most important thing comes last. All the light and Moses and Elijah were important for those disciples to understand who Jesus was, but even more important was that they heard God tell them to listen to Jesus.
That's the most important thing for us to. We may have all kinds of fantastic things happen around us because of Jesus, but the most important thing for us is to listen to what he says and try to be more like him. I don't mean glowing. I mean loving God and others.
Let's talk to God about that.
Prayer
God, we thank you for Jesus. Sometimes it's hard to understand who Jesus is or what the things that happen because of him mean but help us listen to his words and try to love you and others like he did.
We pray in Jesus' name. AMEN
