Children’s Moment for Trinity Sunday B – 26-May-24
26-May-24 (John 3:1-17)
Has anyone ever told you that "You have your father's eyes." or maybe "I can see your mother in you." or maybe "You said that just the way your father would." Have you noticed yourself that you look or act like your parents in some ways? [wait for answers]
We all have little things we do or ways we talk or ways we look that are very much what our parents do. It's part of being born from your parents and raised in their home.
In our gospel story for today, Jesus is talking to a man named Nicodemus and Jesus says that "We must be born from the Spirt." What do your think he means by that? [Wait for answers]
I think it means that, just like you have certain things that you do that are just like what your parents do; just like you talk in ways that are just like your parents, you should also be doing what God's Spirit does and saying what God's Spirt says.
And what does God's Spirit do and say? The most important thing is that God's Spirit tells us that we are loved by God and God's Spirit shows us that love by being with us, especially in times where we're worried, or hurt. So we should also tell other people about God's love for them and show that love by being with them, especially when they're worried or hurting.
Let's talk to God about that.
God, we thank you that you give us your Holy Spirit to help us to know that you love us. Help us to do what your Spirit does and say what your Spirit says by loving other people too.
We pray in Jesus' name.
AMEN.
