DisciplesNet Worship #255, “Faith amidst Fear” (R. Smith 06.21.2015)

When the storms of life come, how can we make it through? Will our faith be enough? That's the question we look at this week in worship, with a challenging message from Rev. Russ Smith of DisciplesNet Church, speaking from the Gospel of Mark 4:26-43. Our team created this worship shortly before the tragic events of Wednesday, June 17, 2015 occurred--a young man joined a Bible Study at one of the oldest black churches in the United States, and after a while, began shooting out of what is believed to be racist hatred for black individuals. He killed nine people, including the Senior pastor, and other pastors and church leaders. Our hearts ache for the families of those killed, for the church and community, and once again we pray for persons in their church whose lives were shattered and taken due to someone with hatred for who they are, for what they believed. Our message speaks a message of hope in times of whatever trouble the world brings to us.
Our worship is 30 minutes long, with singing, prayer, scripture, all designed for you to join in as suits you. We hope that you'll be blessed by worshiping with DisciplesNet, finding ways your own faith in God can grow in theses trying times.
As we do every week, our time together includes a time of communion (breaking of the bread) where you may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me."
If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond all earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink, such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers are given to extend to where you are If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us. We hope that as you join us for worship you will feel a blessing from being part. Please tell friends, family, and others you know about our online church that is here with doors that are always open, walls as wide as the world, and always room at the table.
