DisciplesNet Worship # 77, Palm Sunday, (Allen 04.01.2012)
We invite you to join us for our Palm Sunday worship, with the message given for our DisciplesNet listeners by New Testament scholar and professor, Ronald J. Allen, who is also an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Ron Allen is the Nettie Sweeney and Hugh Miller Professor of Preaching and New Testament at Christian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis, Indiana, www.cts.edu, and author of over 30 scholarly books.
Allen sheds light on the traditional Palm Sunday scripture, Mark 11:1-11, sharing some cultural insight as to what they Jewish crowd may have seen and felt as they welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem with leafy branches and shouts of "Hosanna!"
Our music is the traditional Palm Sunday hymn, "All Glory, Laud, and Honor," as well as, "Jesus Walked This Lonesome Valley," "Eat This Bread," and a special Blessed Be the Name, sung by mother-daughter duo, Kate and Liz Terlep, and accompanied by Dean Phelps. As always, we hope that you will join in as we sing, adding your own voice, mentally or physically as we sing.
We hope you will join us for this short time of worship (just over 30 minutes), and will be blessed by participating. Please tell friends, family, and others you know about our online church that is here with doors that never close, walls as wide as the world, and always room at the table.
If you would like to chat with one of our pastors, please email us at pastor@disciplesnet.org.
Instead of a call to offering within our worship video, we invite you to join others who made our presence on the internet highway with a sense of God's call to give to help support this ministry. We continue to grow steadily and have so many exciting projects planned to connect with people who have been connected from the church.
If you would like to be part of making this ministry possible through giving of a gift, this can be done by going to our website www.disciplesnet.org and going through Pay Pal or credit cards, by writing to our physical PO Box at:
