8-Dec-24 (Luke 3:1-6)

Just as in John's time, there are people yearning to see God's presence in their lives, yearning to see goodness and wholeness and to be able to live their lives in peace.
The call to John, to make the way for God to come into the world is the same call we hear here in this time.
A lot of folks will never see God unless they see God in the way we act in the world. They will see God when their families have a safe place to live, food on the table, and hope for tomorrow.
Here's a chance to be a part of that, by committing to give of ourselves in time, and effort, and resources.
Let's think about that as we take up our offering for today.

Please join me now in prayer.
God, as we come into the time when we celebrate your coming into the world in the person of Jesus Christ, let us also help to bring your presence into our world by meeting the needs of others, comforting the hurting, visiting those who are lonely, and giving of our resources so that your work can be done.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Lord, Amen.
