Offering Meditation for Christ the King Sunday – 24-Nov-24
24-Nov-24 (Christ the King)
When Israel said that they wanted a King, Samuel warned them what a king would do: He would take their sons off to fight wars. He would demand taxes. He would take their best and leave them with the remainder.
God, on the other hand, shows us in Jesus the kind of power that gives freely. God has been gracious to us in so many ways. God does not demand in return, but it is God's joy when we choose to be like God and give of ourselves freely for others.
So, as we come to this time of offering, let's think about how we can participate in this generosity for the good of others. We give, not because we have to, but because we want to share God's love with others in what we do.
Prayer:
Please join me now in prayer.
God, who came to us as one who gives freely and lovingly, let us follow you in that way of giving. Where there are people crying out for care and concern, help us to be there. Where there are people without homes or food or clothing, help us to come, brining what will meet their needs. Where there are people suffering, help us to be there with comfort and a message of hope.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our King, Amen.
