Offering Meditation for Christmas 2C – 5-Jan-25
5-Jan-25 (John 1:1-18)
Sometimes it's hard to figure out who Jesus is. Countless books have been written on that subject. Some of them even agree on a lot of points. It may be helpful for our understanding to struggle with who we think Jesus is, but one way to do that is to look at what Jesus did.
He cared for people who were suffering, sick, or trapped by things they didn't understand. He cared about the poor. He fed people and sat with them and spent time with them. He taught people about how to live a life of service to God and to others. He taught them what he knew about God.
These are all things that Church has been called to do as well. One way we do that is by spending our time and efforts to personally see to it, just like Jesus did. Another way is to give of our resources so others can do the same.
Consider how you can give to see that this important work continues as we take up our offering for today.
Prayer
God, we thank you that Jesus gave us such a great example of a life of giving to others. We pray that you would inspire us and help us to do our part in continuing Jesus' work. We also pray for these gifts, that you would take them and use them to extend the ministries you started here in this congregation, in our city, and in the world.
We pray in Jesus' name. AMEN
