Offering Meditation for Epiphany C5 – 9-Feb-25
9-Feb-25 (Luke 5:1-11)
Like Peter, we realize that there are a lot of times when we're just not good enough for God's standards. The good news is that God doesn't expect us to be. When we give of our time, efforts, and financial resources, it isn't to somehow do enough good that God will recognize us. We give from a grateful heart that God already recognizes us, and we want to share that unqualified love with others. We love because God first loved us. We give because God first gave to us, our lives, the good things in life that we experience, and the love of others.
Let's consider how we can pass it on to the folks around us as we take up our offering for today.
Prayer:
God, who demonstrates your love for us in so many ways, we thank you and we pray that, through giving of ourselves we can truly share your love with others. We know that we will never "measure up," but we pray that you would take our gifts and use them to do your work. Use us too, imperfect as we are, to demonstrate your love in a world that is desperate for it.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Savior, Amen.
