Offering Meditation for Lent 2C – 16-Mar-25
16-Mar-25 (Luke 9:28-36)
Jesus compared his task to that of a mother hen. What does the mother hen do? It makes sure that none of hers are left out or forgotten. It makes sure that they are fed and have a safe place to stay. It cares for them. And just so should we in the Church care for the sick and suffering, feed the hungry, and make sure that all are safe and remembered.
We can do that in many ways: We can give of our time and talent to care for and serve those within our reach and we can give of our financial resources to allow others to serve elsewhere in our country and in the world.
In this time of taking up our offering for today, let us consider all the ways we can give of what God has so generously given us so that the work of the Church can be done.
Our deacons will now come and take up the offering.
Prayer:
Please join me now in a spirit of prayer.
God, whose love is greater even than that mother hen for her brood, help us to understand the depths of that love so that we can share it with others.
Bless the resources that we return to your hand as well, that your work will continue in this congregation, our city, and all over the world.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Savior, Amen.
