Offering Meditation for Palm Sunday C – 13-Apr-25
13-Apr-25 Palm Sunday (Luke 19:28-40)
Today we remember Jesus' entry into Jerusalem at the head of a crowd. But we also need to remember that this is the one who described his mission and purpose as being a servant to all. As we come to our time of offering, keep in mind that the best way to honor Jesus as king is to act as he acted, sharing the love of God for all people in words and deeds.
Our offerings go to help those who are in need, in our own community and in the larger world. They go to support those who carry the Good News with them and who work to help those who are suffering, to provide clothes, food, and shelter to those who need it, to visit the sick and dying.
This is the work of Jesus the king.
Let us be about it, now as the deacons come to take up the offering for today and throughout this next week in our daily lives.
Prayer:
Please join me now in a spirit of prayer.
God, who loves us enough to seek us out, to meet us in our times of need. We pray for these offerings, that they would be used for your work both near to us and further out in the world. We pray for ourselves as well, that we could be servants of others in the ways you have taught us.
We pray all this in the name of your son, our king Jesus the Christ, Amen.
