Offering Meditation for Proper 12a – 30-July-23
30-July-23 (Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52)
What ultimately separates the wheat from the tares? It all comes down to what they produce. The tares grow at the expense of other plants and they produce nothing of value. The wheat, on the other hand, grows to produce life-giving food for the hungry.
We can examine our lives and see whether we're behaving like wheat or like tares. Some of the ways we can be life-giving is to share what we have so others will have enough, share what we have so others can hear of the love of God, share what we have so that others can find hope in this world. With that in mind, let us take up our offering for today.
Prayer:
God of us all, we thank you for your amazing, generous love for all of us. Help us to give of what you have already given to us so that the work of the Church can be done.
We pray in Jesus name, AMEN
