Offering Meditation for Proper 13b – 4-Aug-24
4-Aug-24 (John 6:24-35)
Jesus told us, "Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty." We understand this spiritually, but we can also think about our call to be the presence of Christ on Earth. Where there is hunger, we should be about trying to feed them. Where there is thirst, we should be bringing a cup of water in Jesus' name.
As we follow Christ, we are also about meeting the needs of others, whether those be physical, like food and water, or social, like a need to belong and be welcomed, or spiritual, like a need to know the love of God in real and concrete ways.
If you'd like to be a part of that, there are lots of ways you can give of your time and talents as a part of the ministries of this congregation. There is also this opportunity to give of our financial resources to provide for the work of the Church.
Let's consider how we can be a part of this as we take up our offering for today.
Prayer:
God, you have given us the opportunity to represent you in this world. We pray for these gifts, returned to your hand, that you use them in your work. We also pray for ourselves, that we can truly and faithfully represent your love to the world in what we say and what we do.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Christ, AMEN.
