Offering Meditation (Gospel) for Proper 18a – 10-September-23
10-Sep-23 (Matthew 18:15-28)
Jesus speaks to us about restoring broken relationships. That's actually not a bad description of what Church is about. We work on our relationship with God, both individually and as a community. We work on our relationships with each other, so that we can become the beloved community that Jesus began. We work on relationships with others, both near and far to us, to show them the love that God has for them and restore the relationships between God, people, and our world.
Part of that requires our investing our time and our abilities. Part of that requires investing the material things that God has blessed us with. Consider how you can be a part of restoring relationships by investing what you have as we take up our offering for today.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
Loving, gracious God, we thank you that you are always seeking to restore relationships between yourself, people, and the world. Help us to be a part of that in all the ways we can. Bless these gifts and put them to work in that great work of restoration.
In Jesus name, AMEN
