Offering Meditation for Proper B5 – 9-Jun-24
9-Jun-24 (Mark 3:20-35)
Jesus said, "Whoever does God's will is one of my brothers or sisters." One large part of what we know to be God's will is to take care of the poor, the helpless, the forgotten, the hungry, and the suffering. There are all kinds of ways we do this. [Name a few that your specific congregation does.]
We also participate in the larger ways of helping in our nations and in our world.
Giving of our financial resources if just one of the ways each of us can participate in doing God's will, but it is a very important one. It is a spiritual exercise that helps us realize the importance of thinking of and doing something for others.
Consider all the ways you can give as we take up our offering for today.
Prayer:
Please join me now in prayer.
God, who loved us first and taught us to love, help us to be instruments of that love, showing that love to the world in words and in deeds. Help us to give of ourselves to make that happen.
Bless these gifts that we return to you, to further your work here in our community, our nation, and our world. Let your will be done through them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Christ, AMEN.
