23-June-24 (Mark 4:35-41)

One thing that happens a lot when you're working with God is the surprises when God does something unexpected, especially when that something shows how much power God has. There are times in my own life when God took what I had to give an did something miraculous... and I could feel the hair on the back of my neck rising as I realized just how much God can do.
I imagine the disciples felt the very same way. They had just seen something that indicated that Jesus was operating on a level of power they hadn't anticipated and didn't expect.
So, instead of thinking about how what we have to give back to God seems like so little. Instead of thinking about what we, with our abilities and time can do. Let's think about what God can do with what we return for God's work.
Let's consider that as we take up our offering for today.

God who often surprises us in the ways you work and the power of your presence and action, bless these gifts to your service and multiply them to do great things. Bless us as well, that we can truly be your presence here on Earth and that, when people see us and what we do, they can catch a glimpse of you behind it all.
