11-Dec-22 (Matthew 11:2-11)
In the gospel reading for today, Jesus tells John's disciples to tell John "what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor."
In this time, that's our job. We gather at this table to remember Jesus; what he said and taught, what he did and, as we do, we prepare ourselves to carry the good news to the rest of the world.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God who showed us love, mercy, and justice combined in the words and acts of Jesus, we thank you for his example and teachers. We thank you for his greatest act of love for you, giving his life to defeat sin and death for us.
We are grateful that you have given us these symbols, the bread and cup, to help us remember. Now, as we take, eat, and drink, fill us again with your Spirit, that we can tell the world what we have seen and heard.
In the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
