Table Meditation (Gospel) for Easter Sunday – 9-Apr-23
9-Apr-23
At the Table, we usually think about the sacrificial death of Jesus for our sins. That's good, because it really should be a focus of our remembering. But we also need to keep in mind that our Host, the Risen Christ, is the one who calls us to this Table. It is the Risen Christ who extends the open invitation to any and all who would come. It is the Risen Christ that joins us together as one at the Table. It is the Risen Christ who is present at the Table in every time and place that people gather together to remember. So, as we take the bread and the cup, let us remember the Christ who died for us all, but let us also remember the Christ who was raised to call us on to new and abundant life.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God of us all,
We thank you for Jesus, who gave body and blood that we might have a right relationship with you. We thank you for these symbols, the bread and cup, that represent his sacrifice. We also thank you for raising Christ from the dead to call us together at this Table as one people under one Lord. We pray in the name of Jesus, our Host.
AMEN.
