Table Meditation (Acts) for Easter 2a – 16-Apr-23
16-Apr-23 (Acts 2:1-4a)
In the passage for today from Acts, Peter tells the first converts to Christianity that "the promise is for you, for your children, and for all who are far away, everyone whom the Lord our God calls." Jesus faced death to break its power for all people. Jesus rose as Lord and Savior of all people. So it is that, as we gather at this table, we keep in mind that any and all who come are welcome. Anyone whom God calls belongs here.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God of us all,
We thank you for Jesus, who lived to show us all how we can live, who died to break death's hold on us, and who rose to bring us all into abundant and complete life. We thank you also for these symbols of all that Jesus gave to make it possible for us to live with you. We pray, as we remember Jesus here at the table, that you would renew your Spirit in us and make us more able to show your love and carry the message of your love into the world.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our risen Lord.
AMEN
