Table Meditation (Gospel) for Easter 2b – 7-April-24
7-April-24 (John 20:19-31)
"It was the first day of the week and his disciples were together." That sounds like us, right now. Even if we're all alone in the room, when we gather at the Table, all who've shared this feast of remembrance gather with us... and Jesus himself joins us as the host.
So, as in that upper room so long ago, so it is now. Jesus is here to comfort us, to empower us with his Spirit, and to forgive us so we can forgive others.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God, we thank you for sending Jesus to us to teach us how to live. We thank you for his death that stripped death and sin of their power over us. We thank you for these symbols of bread and cup that remind us of all of that.
We also thank you that you are never far from us. We thank you for those special times when we sense your presence in the very room. Empower us, as you have all Jesus' disciples, to bring your Good News of forgiveness to the world around us.
In the name of Jesus, our Christ, AMEN
