Table Meditation (Gospel) for Easter 3b – 14-April-24
14-April-24 (Luke 24:36b-48)
What the disciples experienced that convinced them that Jesus was to be a continuing presence in their lives first frightened them, but as he showed them how it fit into the ministry and teaching, he had already given them, they were reassured, emboldened, and empowered.
This moment at this table is the moment Jesus himself chose for us to remember him by. "As often as you do it, remember me." The Table tells us who Jesus is and what he's done for us. "This is my body and blood, given for you." So come, eat, remember, and be emboldened and empowered to go into the world.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God, we thank you for this bread and this cup that remind us again of how Jesus gave his life to free us from the power of sin and death. We thank you for Jesus, who willingly gave this great gift to us. As we take this bread and cup, fill us with the same Spirit that empowered Jesus, that we may go into our world and share the Good News of your love with all we meet.
In the name of Jesus, our Christ, AMEN
