8-May-22 Fourth Sunday of Easter (John 10:22-30)
Jesus says, in our gospel reading for today, that his sheep know his voice. How do we know it?
One way we know it is through practice in listening to it. We hear his voice clearly calling us to the table, clearly speaking the message of the love of God that will not let anything stand between us and God, clearly hear it in the words, "This is my body, given for you." "This is my blood poured out for you."
Listen, as our host at the table speaks again to us.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God, who spoke the perfect word in Jesus Christ, teaching us how to live a life of service to you and others, we thank you for Jesus, who spoke your love to us in words and deeds that still speak. We thank you for these symbols of bread and cup that remind us of all he said and did and especially his gift of forgiveness and eternal life.
As we take these symbols, fill us with the Spirit of your Son so that our words and deed can also speak of your love to a world crying to hear it.
In the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
