Table Meditation (Gospel) for Easter 5b – 28-Apr-24
28-April-24 (John 15:1-8)
In our gospel lesson for today, Jesus calls himself the true vine, with us as the branches. Whatever else that means, it means that we draw our life and sustenance from Jesus. Through Jesus flows all that we need to grow and thrive. Here at the Table is one of the places where we can reconnect with the vine. As we remember Jesus and all he did for us, we restore the life-giving connections that help us to mature in our faith and live the lives Jesus intended for us.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God who gives life and restores us to full life, we thank you for the gift of your Son Jesus, whose death broke the power of sin and death over us and made it possible to live abundantly in you. We thank you for this bread and cup that remind us of all of that. As we take these symbols into us, let them become life-giving spiritual sustenance that will carry us from hear, bearing life and hope into our world.
In the name of Jesus, our Christ, AMEN
