Table Meditation (Gospel) for Easter 6a – 14-May-23
14-May-23 (John 14:1-14)
At the Passover meal, with his disciples, Jesus says "I will never leave you orphaned; I am coming to you." He might have been talking about his coming at the end of time, but he was also surely talking about his constant and continued presence in the form of the promised Holy Spirit. Here at this table, Jesus calls us as the host, and he is also present in each and all of us in that same Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit that makes us one. It is the Spirit that reminds us of all Jesus said and did. Let us pray.
Prayer:
God of us all, we thank you for the gift of your presence, first in the man Jesus and now in the Holy Spirit. We thank you for Jesus' sacrifice that made the way for our relationship with you. As we remember Jesus at this table, fill us also with your Spirit, that we may carry on your work as we leave from here.
In Jesus name, AMEN.
